In an effort to provide more educational opportunities for young performers, the Arizona Academy of the Performing Arts (AAPA) is teaming up with the Herberger College of Fine Arts at Arizona State University (ASU). This year, Arizona students have two opportunities to learn from guest clinicians and instructors of the Academy at the music facilities of ASU. "It is a mutual benefit for both ASU and AAPA to come together and share resources," said AAPA Executive Director Mark Richardson. "As institutions focused on education, it only makes sense that we team up to provide these opportunities for our students in Arizona".
The Summer Marching Academy, an annual leadership camp for marching band students, will also be sponsored by the Herberger College of Fine arts and held at the campus of ASU. "The ability for collaboration can be directly attributed to the new director of athletic bands at ASU, Jim Hudson." Richardson said. "I have great respect for his vision of how we can positively effect kids in Arizona. Without his leadership, this collaboration of talents and resources would not be possible."
