The Academy

The Academy will be in action this holiday weekend hosting a Memorial Day community celebration in Tempe, Ariz. on Monday, May 25. Free and open to the public, the event will feature food, games, and visits from local dignitaries including Arizona Governor Jan BrewerSenator John McCain and Representative Harry Mitchell, in addition to the 2009 debut performance of the Academy.

Blue Knights

The Blue Knights’ 2009 production “Shiver” will explore the “frigid fury, brisk beauty, and passionate warmth of winter in the Colorado Rockies.” Musical selections will include works by Vivaldi, Stevie Nicks, and staff composers Russ Newbury and Jeff Audemore, among others.

The Cavaliers

The Cavaliers

The Cavaliers have named Chris Tavano as the corps’ assistant visual caption head. A former mellophone player with the corps, Tavano has been a part of the Cavaliers’ visual staff since 2006.

Glassmen

Glassmen

The Glassmen will make their 2009 debut performances this weekend at two northwest Ohio Memorial Day parades and ceremonies. In between rehearsals, corps members will have the opportunity to march in a parade in downtown Toledo on Saturday, May 23, and then again in Defiance, Ohio on Monday, May 25.

Holy Name Cadets

Holy Name Cadets

The Cadets will officially kick off their 75th anniversary celebrations this weekend in the place where it all started for the corps, North Jersey. A memorial mass to honor deceased Cadets is scheduled for Sunday, May 24 at the Church of the Most Holy Name in Garfield, N.J., and corps members will participate in three parades on Monday, May 25.
