Velvet Knights

The Velvet Knights will offer their interpretation of Italian poet Dante Alighieri's literary masterpiece "Commedia" with their 2008 program, "The Inferno." To tell the story, the corps plans to feature an eclectic mix of music including compositions by Bach, Bizet, Berlioz, Dvorak and hits by AC/DC, Michael Jackson and Frank Sinatra, among others.

Yamato

Yamato recently announced brass and color guard instructional staff members for the 2008 season. Leading the brass will be Honglac Hathuc who currently serves as the director of bands at Rancho Verde High School in Moreno Valley, Calif. Michael Gurrola will head the color guard team as caption head and co-designer and instructor.



The organization also revealed the concept for its 2008 program "Mythos" which according to the corps will be inspired by the myths and legends of Greek and Roman mythology.



Pending the outcome of an official review of organizational operations by the Drum Corps International participation review committee, Yamato looks to return to the competitive drum corps field in 2008 after a year of inactivity.

The Cavaliers

The Cavaliers announced several new additions and returning staff members who will lead the corps' percussion section in 2008. Among new appointments to what the corps refers to as an assemblage of "diverse talent" is Brian Tinkel who currently serves as director of percussion studies at Mars Hill College in N.C.
