Blue Devils

Blue Devils

A contingent of more than 30 Blue Devils staff and members have embarked on a journey to Southeast Asia this week, traveling to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to present the organization’s “System Blue” educational series to an international audience. The group will be featured clinicians at the WBC International Band Camp during a three-day event hosted by the Malaysia World Band Competition and Zi Productions.

Bluecoats report that their 2012 season is off to an “excellent” start after completing recent audition camps in Texas, California, Georgia and the corps’ home state of Ohio. “We were thrilled with the talent level [of the prospective members] at each camp,” Brass Caption Head Emery Craig said. “We are especially pleased with the drive, energy and work ethic of our returning veterans.”

 The Cadets get into holiday spirit by gifting fans a new montage video of scenes from the corps’ December rehearsal camp. In the video, you’ll be able to hear the brass section perform its official 2012 parade tune, “We Need a Little Christmas.”

While the Cavaliers are still keeping the concept for their 2012 production under wraps, the corps reports that its team of design staff members is “charging forward with a renewed enthusiasm” into the 2012 season. “Everyone is extremely excited to bring something to the field that will be fresh as well as satisfying to those looking for the athleticism, coordination and creativity for which the corps is known,” Program Coordinator Scott Koter said.

Crossmen fans can now pre-order the corps’ “Renewal” DVD. The video gives viewers an inside look at the corps’ 2011 summer tour with interviews, rehearsal footage and more.

Columbians

Forte

Forte will host three satellite training camps in the El Paso, Texas area in January, February and March of 2012 catering specifically to brass musicians and woodwind players aspiring to be a part of the corps. “Though the camps are a day long, members will still receive quality instruction and even closer attention making the experience extremely positive,” Program Coordinator Dallas Burgess said.

Be sure to check out a new video highlighting Music City’s recent December audition camp. The corps will be holding drum major tryouts at its upcoming rehearsal Jan. 13-15. Anyone interested is eligible to audition.
