The families of Santa Clara Vanguard (SCV) have been talking for months online on a Yahoo group, but had never met face to face. 50 of us met at Quivey's Grove in Madison for a great lunch on Semifinals day. It was fun meeting everyone and exchanging stories and information about Madison. We had families come from as far away as the Netherlands to the east and California to the west.
Heidi Yamazaki made official badges for everyone that had their name on it and their association with the SCV member, so it was easy to recognize everyone.
Jeff Pearson and Allan Dekko stopped by and also Dan and Maya from the Vanguard staff.
We plan on doing the lunch every year and have started talking about planning it for Pasadena, Calif. for the 2007 World Championships.
