#BlackFriday … #Cyber Monday … #GivingTuesday

Started in 2012 in response to the heavy consumerism push of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday harnesses the power of social media and the generosity of people around the world to bring about real change in their communities.

In 2015 alone, nonprofits raised more than $117 million online in response to #GivingTuesday. A diverse array of organizations participated representing 71 countries around the globe.

Drum corps organizations have expenses all year long, well before performing members have to get on buses to travel across the country during their annual summer tour. #GivingTuesday comes at the perfect time of year for those groups, helping them look forward to the New Year with a little more comfort in their economic viability.

Beyond financial contributions, #GivingTuesday also gives organizations the opportunity to encourage the donation of time, resources and talent—volunteerism always a critical component to their ongoing operations.
