From a Blue Saints press release: Mike Lukas will assume the role of Blue Saints visual designer and drill instructor for the up coming season. "Lukas brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the corps and will be a great asset for the members," said Blue Saints director Mark Ripley.
Lukas' marching and teaching experience spans three decades. He was a member of the Mt. Upton, N.Y., high school marching band and indoor color guard from 1973 till 1980. His early drum corps life was spent with the Avant Garde from Saratoga Springs, N.Y. He spent his last few seasons with the Crossmen, where he aged out in 1984. Lukas has taught several indoor and outdoor high school programs throughout the Northeast and Southeast. He currently serves as a judge for both indoor guard and percussion in the Southeast, and is in his fifth year with Teal Sound from Jacksonville, Fla. Lukas is on the staff of the champion Purple Tornado Marching Band of Norwich, N.Y., is a movement judge for the FMBC, and is a visual designer/technician for the Baker County High School System in Glen St. Mary, Fla.
