A statement from the Magic of Orlando: It is with great sadness that Magic of Orlando announces the passing of Matt Musick, who played baritone with that corps from 2001 to 2003. Matt perished just days before his 17th birthday as the result of an automobile accident.

Musick attended Haines City H.S. in Haines City, Fla. He was very active in the band program. "Matt is truly one of the great musicians to come through this school," said Haines City Band Director, Frank McDonald. "For the last two years he sat first chair euphonium in our All-County Band." McDonald explained that Musick will be best remembered for his optimistic outlook on life and his lively sense of humor. He concluded, "Matt has a lot of friends here that will miss him -- including me!"

Musick first joined the Magic family in 2001 as member of Micro Magic. He continued as a member the next year when Magic became the 2002 Division II champions. A three-year veteran of Magic, he planned to return in 2004.

"Matt is a remarkable young man," says Carl Ruocco, Magic's executive director. "He was dedicated to Magic and loyal to his fellow members. It's tragic to loose such a great young adult like this." Ruocco added, "Our thoughts and prayers will most definitely be with Matt and his family in this time of loss."
