As we join in the commemoration of International Women’s Day, Drum Corps International’s IN STEP: Women of DCI Committee is proud to announce a new college scholarship which will be awarded through DCI’s annual scholarship program.

The $1,000 scholarship will be presented to a female DCI performer who demonstrates an intent and commitment to contribute to the drum corps community after aging-out.

“As we look toward the future, IN STEP is committed to ushering in a new generation of women leaders in the marching arts. We want to help more women succeed as caption heads, corps administrators, executives, designers, judges, and everywhere else,” said IN STEP chairperson Genevieve Geisler. “To that end, the scholarship will be open to students of any major or program of study who seek a career within the greater DCI community after graduation.”

Look for the launch of the DCI scholarships page on DCI.org later this month for more information about the application process, or to donate to the fund.

IN STEP is working to bring wider recognition to the contributions made by women in the marching arts; to find ways to enable more women to participate and lead in the drum corps activity; and to work with DCI to ensure that the women and girls in the activity are able to participate in a safe environment.

Additional information will be posted soon on DCI.org including announcements of upcoming webinars with Women of DCI, spotlights featuring current women leaders and innovators in the drum corps activity, and a fundraising event at Lucas Oil Stadium during the 2019 DCI World Championship Semifinals.
