After considering multiple factors, Drum Corps International determined today that the Pioneer Drum and Bugle Corps will not participate in the 2019 DCI Summer Tour as a condition of the corps’ suspension.
Pioneer leadership informed DCI that it is moving immediately to replace all current members of the Pioneer board of directors along with selecting a new director for the corps. DCI will hold a follow-up meeting with corps leadership next week to discuss further terms of the organization’s suspension.
DCI Executive Director Dan Acheson placed the Milwaukee-based corps on indefinite suspension from all DCI activities on Thursday, August 16, following several weeks of investigating questions of adherence to acceptable standards of health and safety for all participants, as documented in the DCI Community Code of Conduct and Ethics Guidelines adopted in May 2018.
