For the third consecutive year, David Roth will be the drum major for the Carolina Crown. Roth is from Marietta, Ga., where he attended Pope High School. A clarinet player, he served as section leader at Pope his sophomore year and drum major his junior and senior years. While at Pope he was an All-State clarinetist and was also awarded the "John Philip Sousa Band Award." He was a national finalist (5th place overall) in the 1999 PTSA "Reflections" composition competition. He was also a "Who's Who" recipient his senior year.

David Roth
Currently, Roth is a music education/composition major at the University of Georgia. Having recently traveled to Israel and after having studied for a semester at the University of North Texas, Roth will return to UGA this spring, 2003. He plans on student teaching in the coming fall and then graduating in December. 2003 marks Roth's fourth and final year as a member of the Carolina Crown, his third as drum major. He marched in the Crown brass line in 2000, and received the 2000 Outstanding First-Year Brass Member Award. In addition, Roth was selected by the members of Carolina Crown to receive the Corps' Member of the Year Award in 2001 and 2002. Roth is also the charter chairperson of Carolina Crown's 3-year-old Student Leadership Task Force, an initiative aimed at enhancing the leadership qualities of all the corps' student leaders.
