Souther, Lewis to be Memphis Sound's 2003 drum majors

Matt Souther and Ashley Lewis will be the Memphis Sound's drum majors in 2003. The two were chosen from a field of six who auditioned for the two roles.Corps director Trey Moore said, "Matt and Ashley are both extremely talented and possess great conducting and communications skills. Even at this early stage, they work well together and already provide outstanding leadership to our corps. They will be critical to any success we may experience in our first year." Souther is from Acworth, Ga., and is an 18-year-old freshman at Auburn University. Lewis is from Cleveland, Miss., and is a 21-year-old junior at Delta State University, where she is a drum major of the school's marching band.Memphis Sound, a Division II corps, is currently in its charter season.
