Saluting our servicemen and women on Veterans Day

The Drum corps cure

Drum corps cure

“My name is Brandon Beck. I’m 16 years old and I march tenors for the Collins Hill drum line. I wish to march with the Crossmen in the 2006 summer tour and will be auditioning for them in November. Feel free to e-mail me, I love talking to fellow drum corps junkies like myself. The picture here is me at WGI world championships in Dayton, Ohio.

“I had an unusual realization I thought I might share. On Tuesday, April 19, I was sitting in 4th period (my U.S. History class) and started having chest pains. About an hour later, I’m on my way to the hospital. Long story short, after putting me on oxygen, getting an E.K.G. and an I.V., we find out that I’m a perfect kid and no one can figure out what is wrong with me. We do know that I was close to having a heart attack (if I hadn’t gotten to the hospital when I did).

“I am wonderful now. But how does this relate to DCI? Let me tell you — when people are sick, most of them sleep or watch movies, right? I definitly didn’t watch a movie, or go home and sleep. I went home and pulled out my 2004 DCI championships DVDs. I’m sure that any drum corps junkie like me would have done the same thing.”

Thanks Brandon!
