Founded in 1963 as the Junior Dukes, the Colts were also known as the Legionnaires and Colt .45 before adopting the corps’ current name in 1976. Since 1993, the corps has placed in the DCI World Championship Finals seven times. In addition to a Division I and Division II drum corps, the Colts organization sponsors a youth chorale and summer band. Iowa’s governor has declared the Colts as “Iowa’s Ambassadors of Music.
