"James Elvord's teaching technique is magical: two parts Bernstein, one part Dr. King. I swear, he could teach a tree how to play."
- DCI Hall of Fame member Frank Dorritie.

We don't know about trees, but DCI Hall of Famer Jim Elvord sure did teach the Madison Scouts how to play in those glory days of the mid 1970s.

Elvord came of age in the Scouts in a tense time. The corps made the man and the man later helped make the corps.

DCI's Steve Rondinaro has our video Hall of Fame perspective.
