Two rules regarding the judging of percussion at DCI events next summer will be voted on at the DCI winter meetings next weekend in Denver. Rule 1: The addition of an ensemble percussion judge, in which the front ensemble would play an equal role to the battery in the overall percussion score. This would assure that the front ensemble would get feedback on every tape. Rule 2: Placing the existing percussion judge in the stands. This would assure the judge's physical safety as well as ensure more consistent observations. It would also allow the front ensemble to receive more judge commentary. Instructors, judges and corps directors will deliberate on these proposals next week. Read both proposals in their entirety.
