"Stories of Gods and Heroes" starts off with a huge bang with thunder crashing and lightning being hurtled about in Samuel Barber's "Second Essay for Orchestra," with the guard attired in togas to convey the Greek mythology theme. "I'll Fly Away" barely gives the audience a chance to sit back before the brutality of Barber's "Medea's Dance of Vengeance" shakes one up with its piercing, stabbing brass chords and percussive explosiveness. The corps' intent was to be sure the members wouldn't be sitting out the evening show. Judging by this performance, it might be a tight race for the four corps that will move on tonight.NOTE: This is the last score to be announced on this website until all scores are announced in the prelims finale at 4:10 p.m.
